Deidre Richardson

Deidre Richardson serves as the K-12 Mathematics Coordinator for academic standards with the New Jersey Department of Education and has spent more than 20 years in public education in New Jersey. She holds a Ed.D and Ed.M in Mathematics Education, a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering and an A.A.S in computer science. Her research and professional interests include cognition and early math ideas of preservice elementary educators, mathematical identity and belief, equity in computer science, and K-12 data science/literacy. Having found community in ASSM, she hopes to support members in navigating the evolving policy landscape spurred by unprecedented disruptions to schooling, and in leveraging both research and practice to strengthen K-12 mathematics education. Prior to joining the New Jersey Department of Education, Deidre was an instructional coach and high school math teacher. Additionally, she has served for 10+ years as a mathematics consultant providing services such as grant review for USDE programs, K-12 professional development and math assessment guidance for a range of organizations.
