Arlene Crum is the Director of Mathematics at the Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction in Washington. She holds a BS in Secondary Mathematics Education, an MEd in Administration and Supervision, and Principal’s Certification for K-12 schools. As an educator and military spouse she has experienced teaching and learning from coast to coast in four states and values her current role’s opportunities to elevate the voice of diverse perspectives for students, teachers and schools. Her current work at OSPI focuses on mathematics pathways for students that incorporate growth mindset, relevant mathematics, and valuable reasoning skills to make math more accessible for all.
